FR.I.D.A. Project for Professionals of Deaf Comunity


Within the framework of the LdV sectorial programme, FR.I.D.A. project (1, 2 and 3) was developed from 2008 to 2011. This mobility project, Training to Integrate the Hearing Impaired, intended to stimulate innovation in the teaching / learning, exchange and reflection among those responsible for training, advice and guidance for the Deaf and the Hearing Impaired, as well as for the education of Sign Languages, as 1st and 2nd Language.
The target group of the project consisted of Teachers of Special Education Teachers of Portuguese Sign Language (LGP), Trainers, Coaches, Psychologists who are also Certified Trainers and other agents of Education to the Deaf Community, including Speech Therapists, directly or indirectly related to teaching and education of the Hearing Impaired.
The work program was developed in Austria, in England and in Italy. The main objectives of the work programme were met and focused on promoting awareness of different forms of special education and vocational training (specifically for the Deaf), transfer of good practices and acquiring new skills in training improving the quality of education and the development of the skills of the participants, at all levels, namely their professional and intercultural skills.
The project proved to be a vehicle for addressing the needs for improving the quality of training of the partnership and the needs of participants with regard to innovation and good practice and updating of teaching methods in the field of vocational training, including teaching sign language based in ICT, for the deaf community and the implementation of policy measures and effective special programs for the full socio-professional integration of hearing impaired.
The recognition of skills acquired by participants was done through the certification granted by the sending and receiving organisations.

As a result of this project was set up a working team in GIJA - Office for Incentives for Youth and Adults (Department of INTERGARBE) aiming the preparation of the mobility project V.I.D.A.S., for young Deaf and Hard of Hearing, who are available in the labour market, (already approved) which will be developed in 2010/2011.
